Abstract
The author describes the process of translating two texts: Elisa Klapheck's biography of Regina Jonas, the first woman rabbi, and Jonas' 1930 treatise, "Can Women Serve as Rabbis?" Axelrod describes her growing appreciation of Jonas' ideas and arguments, and finds much in them that is useful to contemporary religious feminists.
