Terri A. Amlong is an Assistant Professor of English at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania, where she teaches courses in American literature, women writers, and first-year writing. Her research focuses on women editors of reform periodicals such as Margaret Fuller, Lydia Maria Child, Caroline Healey Dall, and Jane Grey Swisshelm. She has presented numerous papers on nineteenth-century women writers, and her article "Periodicals as Primary Texts: Reading Nineteenth-Century Periodicals in the American Literature Classroom" was published in Teaching American Literature for Spring/Summer 2012. She is currently working on a scholarly edition of Jane Grey Swisshelm's first book, Letters to Country Girls (1853).

Frank E. Fee Jr. retired in June 2011 as an associate professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he taught media history. He has presented his research on newspapers and newspaper history at conferences throughout the United States and in Great Britain and Sweden, and is the author of a number of journal articles on the journalism of Frederick Douglass and the antebellum press.

Meaghan M. Fritz is a doctoral student in English at Northwestern University. She is a 2010 MA graduate in English at Georgetown University, where her thesis examined the work of Maria Weston Chapman and Julia Griffiths in the antislavery movement in America.

Paul Woolridge lectures at Northeastern University, specializing in twentieth-century intellectual history and transatlantic literary and cultural studies and focusing on the history of the essay form, particularly as it relates to the larger social role of the public intellectual.
