Teachers of the hearing impaired often find themselves attempting to teach reading to unmotivated readers. The student may be capable of decoding words, yet not demonstrate any effort at reading. It becomes tedious and boring working with this kind of reader. Problems are compounded by the need to teach thinking skills related to the reading process. This paper introduces a technique for motivating the unmotivated reader and incorporating thinking skills activities into the lesson. This is one technique for motivating the unmotivated reader.
