The purpose of this project is to develop computer-based instructional programs to aid in the instruction of the hearing impaired. These programs, under development, will be implemented on popular microcomputers using extensive use of graphics and animation to express the sign language.
It is hoped that the programs will provide aid in the teaching of the hearing impaired in the following areas:
1. Teaching sign language,
2. Aiding students to learn to read or to read better, and
3. Providing interactive instructional materials in sign language.
By utilizing this concept of teaching, these programs could provide more individualized instruction to the hearing-impaired student.
