The due process provision of Public Law 94-142 is intended to provide parents and educators with new avenues for resolving educational differences and for providing a mechanism for optimum program development. This article presents the current status of the use and effectiveness of due process procedures by parents and educators as reported by 54 administrators of schools for the deaf. The article addresses two major concerns of parents and educators—pupil placement and appropriateness of the individual educational program (I.E.P.) issues.
