The editors are pleased to welcome Kenneth Harrow, Michigan State University, as Film Review Editor of the African Studies Review. We are very grateful to Ken for assuming this important role. Among the most productive and insightful critics of his generation, he is the author of Thresholds of Change in African Literature (Heinemann, 1994), Less Than One and Double: A Feminist Reading of African Women’s Writing (Heinemann, 2002), and Postcolonial African Cinema: From Political Engagement to Postmodernism (Indiana University Press, 2007). He has edited numerous collections on such topics as Islam and African literature, African cinema, and women in African literature and cinema. His appointment reflects our intention that the African Studies Review develop a more defined focus on African cinema both as an art form and as social commentary. He will be soliciting reviews, as well as more extensive articles, on African cinema and may be reached at the following address:
