Guidelines for ContributorsSubmissions Scholarly articles should generally be from twelve to twenty double-spaced pages in length, and notes (short articles) should generally be no longer than eight pages. All submissions must conform to the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, sixth edition. Essays should show an awareness of the most recent developments in Steinbeck criticism and should be written with an intent to delight as well as to instruct. Clarity and original voice are appreciated, with all critical approaches welcome. Poetry submissions should deal with themes or places associated with SteinbeckÕs life and works. Potential contributors are encouraged to examine the most recent issue(s) of The Steinbeck Review and Steinbeck Studies for examples of format and style. Submissions should be sent to Editors Barbara Heavilin and Paul Douglass as an e-mail attachment in Microsoft Word to steinbec@email.sjsu.edu. Book reviews are assigned by the editor-please contact Charles L. Etheridge, Jr.: charles.etheridge@mail.tamucc.edu.
