The Author T he Reverend. Andrew Kiptoo Arap Tanui, born in 1952 in Kabarus Village, Cheborge Division, in the then Kericho District, is the third born son of Mr. Lawrence KiptanuiArap Sang (Kapsiirng’ot) of Kipkenda clan (Sololo) and the late Mrs. Esther Jemutai Sang (Kabargero) of Kapchemusarek clan. He got his primary education in Cheborge School (1960 to 1964) when his parents migrated to Kaptumo in Nandi District. He continued his primary education in both Kaboi and Kipchawat schools. He joined Kaptel secondary school in 1972 and in 1973 where he obtained a K.J.S.E Certificate. He was employed as an un-trained teacher in 1974 and served many schools in southern Nandi. In the course of his teaching he did ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels in 1976 and 1979 respectively. He joined St. Paul’s United Theological College, Limuru in 1983 for Ordained Ministry. He later obtained a diploma certificate from Makerere University College and a certificate in theological Studies from Nairobi University College in 1985. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1985 and ws made a priest in 1986 in the Anglican Church of Kenya (then C.P.K). He has served theAnglican Church in many parishes dedicative in the greater Eldoret Diocese and currently in Kitale See. He is a born again, saved, Christian. He is married to Jeniffer Jemutai Tanui.
