Wisteria is Kwame Dawes’s eleventh collection of verse since he published Progeny of Air in 1994, which won the Forward Poetry Prize. He has published an additional eight antholgies and books of fiction, drama, and literary and cultural criticism. His awards include a Pushcart Prize, the Hollis Summers Poetry Prize and the Poetry Business Prize. His book Bob Marley:Lyrical Genius remains the most authorative study of the lyrics of Bob Marley. Dawes is the Distingusihed Poet-in-Residence at the University of South Carolina where he is Director of the South Carolina Poetry Initiative and the University of South Carolina Arts Institute.
