249 References The information presented in this book came from publications, personal interviews, and websites. We used the publications listed here for background information. Four books published by the University Press of Kansas were particularly useful: The WPA Guide to 1930s Kansas; 1001 Kansas Place Names; Ghost Towns of Kansas: A Traveler’s Guide; and Roadside Kansas: A Traveler’s Guide to Its Geology and Landmarks. We formally interviewed individuals at sites along I-70, as well as knowledgeable personnel at museums and universities in Kansas. On occasion, people shared a few comments to identify a particular sight or provide directions. Those whose names we have and who offered helpful information are listed here as well. We also made use of selected websites for specialized information. These, too, are listed here. Publications ASABE Standards, Engineering Practices, and Data.
