Abstract

This chapter describes Helmholtz's reaction to the difficulties he had encountered in communicating the results of his time experiments. On the one side, he started popularizing his findings in lectures before general audiences and by extending his measurements from frogs to humans. On the other side, Helmholtz introduced the graphic method into his research as a convenient way of illustrating the basic principle of his time experiments.
