Welcome to the Center of Latin American Studies, (CLAS) established in 1959; committed to a long standing Latin American Studies program of substance and depth. Since our founding The Center has repeatedly received "National Resource Center" (NRC) funding and, thanks to an intensive grant-writing effort led by our more than 123 core and affiliate faculty members, we are again proud to hold that title. Ending a four year drought, CLAS has regained the coveted Title VI NRC Grant from the U.S. Department of Education, which will help us acheive many of our goals over the next coming years.
