The UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies (CMRS) promotes interdisciplinary and cross-cultural studies of the period from late antiquity to the middle of the seventeenth century. CMRS sponsors and co-sponsors lectures, seminars, and conferences, hosts visiting professors, post-doctoral scholars, and other visiting researchers, and produces the journals Viator and Comitatus and the book series Cursor Mundi. CMRS assists scholars, students, and the larger community to acquire a deeper understanding of issues rooted in the past that continue to resonate in our contemporary world.

Comitatus: A Journal of Medieval and Renaissance Studies, published annually under the auspices of the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, University of California, Los Angeles, publishes articles by graduate students and new scholars (within five years of receiving the PhD) working in any field of the Middle Ages or the Renaissance. The annual journal is distributed internationally to libraries and individuals.
