Contributor Profiles george g hajivayanis is a holder of a BA (Hons) in Sociology and Political Science (University of dar es Salaam, 1972), MA in Sociology (University of dar es Salaam, 1974) and Phd in Sociology (University of Paris at Sorbonne, 1993). He is fluent in English, Kiswahili and French, and converses adequately in several Tanzanian dialects and Arabic. As a student at UdSM, he was a member of USArF and an editor of MajiMaji. He has lectured at the institute of development Management at Mzumbe, institute of regional Planning in dodoma, Sokoine University of Agriculture of Morogoro, National University of Lesotho, Lesotho and University of the North in South Africa. in 1997, he attained the rank of Associate Professor. His research has dealt with agricultural issues, politics and nationalism. Among his key publications are: Hajivayanis (1974; 1995; 2000), and Hajivayanis and Ferguson (1991).
