AHME D B.Sc.(Eng), M.Sc.(Eng) , Ph.D. , P.E., M.ASCE Syed Mahmoo d Ahme d i s a facult y membe r i n th e Departmen t o f Construction Management at the Florida International University (FIU) in Miami. Before joining FIU, Dr Ahmed was an academic staff member in the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 199 5 to 1999 . H e obtained his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan in 1984. After working in the private and public sectors for over three years, he joined the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA in 1987 , from where he completed hi s M.Sc. in Civi l Engineering in 198 9 and his Ph.D. in 1993. During his doctoral studies, he also worked fo r CRSS , a top constructio n management firm in Atlanta for a number of years.
