summary
When a church closes or is demolished, the entire society suffers a loss of heritage. Should we then go on believing that the historic monument status can save all churches or giving the illusion that they are not threatened ? A glance at reality however emphasizes the need to think further on that spirit of preservation, its financial mechanisms and societal rationale. The Ninth International Young Scholars Conference on Heritage from which this book comes up scrutinized the communal future of churches as well as the underlying transition strategies.
