should his wife Martha survive him then I will that after his death the said sum of Seventy- five ($75.00) Dollars per month shall be paid to her during her life. VI. I will and bequeath to George H. Getchell, the son of Ellen Getchell a life estate in and to lot Number Nine (9) in Block Fifty- seven (57) on the South side of Buffalo Bayou in the City of Houston; also in 909 acres more or less in Fort Bend County, Texas, out of the Barnett & Shipman Survey, know as the Mulbery and White fields now rented to E. J. Williams, being all of the land owned by me in said survey; also my gold watch, the one usually worn by me, together with all the rents and revenues to be derived from said lands during his natural life. At his death, should he leave children surviving him, the fee simple title of said lot and lands to vest in his said children but in the event he leaves no children surviving him then said lot and lands above described shall become vested in the Hermann hospital hereinafter provided for in the Ninth paragraph. VII. I will and bequeath to the City of Houston Block 146 on the South Side of Buffalo Bayou, the same to be held in trust for the use of the public as a public park or breathing place and to be know as the “Hermann Square.” VIII. I will and bequeath to the City of Houston to be held in trust for the public for a public park all of that portion of the lands I own in the following surveys to wit: The Joe Gamble, G.P. Forster, D.W.C. Harris and P.W. Rose, which lies west of Galveston, Harrisburg & San Antonio Railroad right of way and North of the Houston Belt and Terminal Railroad right of way and east of the prolongation of Caroline Street, including within said bounds several hundred acres of land, it being my intention to convey all of the land which I may own at the time of my death lying east of the prolongation of Caroline Street West of the In the name of God Amen: I, George H. III. I will and bequeath to my friend J. J. Settegast the sum of Five Thousand ($5000.00) Dollars. Should he not be living at the time this will takes effect then I will that the said sum of Five Thousand Dollars shall be divided equally among such of this other children as are living at that time. IV. I will and bequeath to Mrs. Mary Sherwine, and to Mrs. Henrietta Meineke, both formerly were Misses Ewing, to each the sum of One Thousand ($1000) Dollars. V. I will and bequeath to my friend T. J. Ewing, Sr. Lots Six (6) Seven (7) Eleven (11) and Twelve (12) in Block One Hundred and Forty Nine (149) on the South side of Buffalo Bayou in the City of Houston, Harris County, Texas, and also the sum of Six Thousand ($6000) Dollars in money.
