La Muralla Cultural Center On February 17 , 2006, a mural about the military dictatorship was painted in the La Muralla Cultural Center, the first in a series of neighborhood murals painted around the city. This project was undertaken by members of the Communist Party, the Youth Federation of the neighborhood of La Paternal, the group Culture in Movement (Cultura en Movimiento, from Chile and Argentina), and the Jorge Calvo Mural School Brigade. Esther Ballestrino de Careaga Esther Ballestrino de Careaga had sought exile in Argentina as an opponent of the Alfredo Stroessner dictatorship in Paraguay. She married Paraguayan exile Raymundo Careaga, and they had three daughters. She began working with families of the disappeared when security forces kidnapped her son-in-law and her youngest daughter, Ana María, who was three months pregnant. Roberto Santoro Square In 1996 a small square (plazoleta) in the neighborhood of Chacarita was named after the poet Roberto Santoro , and two commemorative plaques were dedicated containing biographical information. Family members, neighbors, friends, and fellow activists took part in the event.
