253 Bibliography of Gustav Shpet's Published Works (1901-2009) Galin Tihanov The bibliography encompasses Shpet's published works from 1901 (when his first scholarly translation appeared) to 2009. It is organized in the following sections: scholarly publications (subdivided into publications in Shpet's lifetime and posthumous publications); correspondence; personal documents; works in which Shpet figures as translator or editor; and finally, translations of Shpet's writings. Within each of these sections, the entries are organized in chronological order, according to the year of publication (and to the first letter of the title where several titles were published in the same year). To make the material more easily manageable, further chronological groupings are introduced in the largest section (Shpet's scholarly publications ). To make the bibliography accessible to a wider scholarly constituency, in the section listing Shpet's publications as editor or translator the auxiliary bibliographical information is given in English translation, while the titles of the translations or editions are kept in Russian (in those infrequent instances where the Russian conveys or disambiguates auxiliary information that would have otherwise been lost, the original is kept and is reproduced in italics in square brackets). Republications or reprints are indicated but do not form separate entries, unless they contain a substantial proportion of previously unpublished material. Modern Russian spelling is used throughout (original prefixation forms are preserved, e.g. "izsledovanie"). The reader needs to keep in mind that until 1914 Shpet spelled his surname with a double t: Shpett; with the appearance of Iavlenie i smysl, he adopted the spelling Shpet (except in texts in German and English, where the t was still doubled). None of these two bibliographies include translations of Shpet's works. The present bibliography supplements Mitiushin's and Fedorova's bibliographies, both in the section listing Shpet's works published in his lifetime and in that listing the posthumous publications of his writings; it also corrects the inevitable inaccuracies and errors found in the two previous bibliographies.
