FIRST KISSES Out of sight, I kissed brown, crumbly pasture, gray coral of antlers, daddy longlegs cupped quivering, but not my mother, father, or any boy. I kissed light condensed in milky quartz, limestone pregnant with shells, puddles where drowned earthworms settled, soft roots and rotting sticks, but not my face puckered in the car’s scalding mirror.
