81 Notes “ROMANCE OF THE PRISONER” This version of the anonymous poem is from the book Flor nueva de romances viejos by Ramón Menéndez Pidal.( Espasa-Calpe: Spain, 1967). “RESPONSE” Cecilia (Vicuña) writes about word-weapons,one of them is “solidarity,”when you divide it in syllables, it means in Spanish “to give and give sun.” Emilio (Mignone), to whom I dedicate this poem, was the father of a disappeared woman and a courageous human rights lawyer.
