309 Notes Quotations by Stan Kenton and alumni are an essential feature of this work: they speak from first-hand knowledge that the author could never possess. At the same time, memories can be tainted and facts misrepresented. For this reason, some quotes have been slightly adjusted to ensure accuracy and clarity, without ever changing the speaker’s intent. Occasionally, two quotations by a musician on the same subject have been amalgamated, in which case the primary source is given in the notes. Note that though not continually repeated below, Pete Venudor co-conducted with the author the Stan Kenton interview on February 22, 1973, and Tony Cox was present at many of the alumni interviews held during Murray Patterson’s “Rendezvous in Britain” conventions held between l992 and 2000.
