Acknowledgements The editors would like to thank the authors as well as the following individuals and institutions for their contributions to the completion of this volume . They wish to acknowledge the stellar work done by Diana Brydon’s doctoral research assistant, Sandy Annett, in managing communications, preparing the manuscript for submission to the press, and advising on the preparation of the advertising materials. Dr. Annett, as she is now, was always superbly well organized, cheerful, and insightful in the work she did. Since she left, Riley McGuire has served as an admirable replacement, helping out with last-minute corrections to the proofs. Both editors warmly thank Olive Senior for the essay opening the volume , a thought-provoking analysis of writerly and readerly practices, and for contributing a sample of her highly original visual poems, effectively setting the stage for the manifold enquiries and investigations of the subsequent vii chapters. They also thank Marta Dvořák’s doctoral student, Sneharika Roy, for completing the challenging task of drawing up the initial transcript of the address which Olive Senior gave at the initial conference in Paris, a transcript submitted to the writer which allowed her to subsequently extend and develop her thoughts.
