Bipuograpliy A book like this has many sources that are impossible to document in the traditional fashion, as they are drawn from my memories and from many years of conversation and observation that were not strictly "field work." Research in the traditional sense did not provide me with surprises or extraordinary insights, but rather told me, and I hope the reader as well, that my bungalow colony experiences and those of my family were not unique but part of a continuing tradition.
