-24For My Brother and Me It’s a lot like standing Immediately in a very dark room. It’s not just dark But rather blind and deaf. No sensations. You’re pretty sure you can’t talk But your fear forces you To total and complete silence. Not just silence, Nothing. You don’t move Because you’re sure The room has no walls On the inside; Only on the outside. “How did I get here,” you think, And the thought rips At the edges of your mind And rattles all you hold close And you know. Where’s the light switch? Is there a light switch? Is there a light? There’s only whatever is inside of you, Inside of whatever you are inside of. Then, as simply as laughing, A door, way off in the little bitty distance, opens. A light, like living, pours in And you can see you were right.
