[92] A B O U T T H E AU T H O R Elisabeth Murawski is the author of Moon and Mercury (Washington Writers’ Publishing House) and two chapbooks, Troubled by an Angel (Cleveland State University Poetry Center) and Out-patients (Serving House Books). Over 200 poems have appeared in journals that include: The Yale Review, The New Republic, The Virginia Quarterly Review, Field, Ontario Review, Antioch Review, The Southern Review, The Dubliner, Poetry Northwest, and others. “Abu Ghraib Suggests the Isenheim Altarpiece” won the 2006 Ann Stanford Prize (USC). The present volume has been a finalist for the Field Poetry Prize, the Brittingham and Pollak Poetry Prize, the Blue Lynx Prize for Poetry, and The Journal/OSU Poetry Prize. Born and raised in Chicago, she moved to Washington, DC in 1960 and recently retired from the U.S. Census Bureau where she worked as a training specialist. She holds an MFA from George Mason University. She has been awarded residencies by The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Achill Heinrich Boll Association.
