The chapter explores the conceptual and representational consequences of the multiple resistances and decompositions of sovereignty staged in Richard II, Measure for Measure, and Fuenteovejuna. What new figures of sovereignty emerge in the wake of the breakdown, reanimation and resistance of the body-of-power performed in the previous chapters? Calderón's answer marks a departure from the view of sovereignty as embodied in the sacred king and initiates a representational movement that will have important long term consequences as sovereignty begins to occupy increasingly abstract and fragmented forms.
