Abstract

Chapter 9 examines the writings of Emmanuel Falque, current dean of the faculty of philosophy at the Institut catholique in Paris and a new voice in this emerging field. Falque is particularly interested in questions of the body, examining themes of corporeality and resurrection, flesh and Eucharist. He argues that we must take seriously our “animality” and investigates the incarnation and Christ’s passion as a way of focusing more fully on our fleshly nature. He draws explicitly on liturgical and theological texts for his phenomenological analysis, but also interacts with the work of several other thinkers examined in this volume.
