In addition to providing some of the individual documents, these sources established the facts around particular events and created the context for featured documents. The two most important newspapers were the student-run paper, the Oberlin Review (1874 to present), and the faculty and staf newspaper of Oberlin College, the Observer (1979–98). Many other Oberlin publications have been used throughout this book. Student newspapers include the Activist (Student Journal of Politics and Opinion), the Collective(AJournalforandbyPeopleofColor), theOberlinGrape(JournalofStudent Opinion), NOMMO (Oberlin’s Black Student Literary Magazine), In Solidarity (Publication RegardingPeopleofColor), and Voces(Oberlin’sBilingualPaper).
