About the Author Winner of the 2009 Minnesota Book Award for National Monuments (Michigan State University Press), Heid E. Erdrich has authored four books of poetry and co-edited Sister Nations: Native American Women on Community, an anthology. Heid grew up in Wahpeton, North Dakota, and is Ojibwe, enrolled at Turtle Mountain. She graduated from Dartmouth College and The Johns Hopkins University. Heid taught college writing for two decades, including many years as a tenured professor. Since 2007, Heid has worked with American Indian visual artists as an arts advocate and a curator. In 2010 she founded Wiigwaas Press to publish Ojibwe language books. She travels often to colleges, universities , and libraries as a visiting author, and she offers writing workshops regularly . Heid’s current project is a cookbook from the indigenous food movement in Minnesota. ...
