About the Author Vinay Kamat received his PhD in social work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Bombay, India, in 1992 and his PhD in anthropology from Emory University in 2004. He had been an assistant professor of anthropology at the University of British Columbia since 2003 and in 2010 was promoted to associate professor. Since 1998, Kamat has performed extensive fieldwork in Tanzania on topics such as malaria control and social suffering. In recent years he served as principle investigator on projects in both India and Tanzania. He received a Wenner-Gren Richard Carley Hunt fellowship in 2011 to work on his malaria research and his research for this book. Kamat has published in such journals as Social Science and Medicine, Medical Anthropology Quarterly, Anthropology and Medicine, Africa, and Medical Anthropology. ...
