xi Acknowledgments This volume is truly a collaborative effort whose roots extend back many years to a graduate seminar on the body and the rhetoric of science where we, the editors, first explored and shared ideas about disability and women. As we took on the project of editing and shaping this volume, we had invaluable help and guidance from many people.
