309 About the Author Ellen Carol DuBois has been active in the development of the field of U.S. women’s history since the 1970s.The focus of much her work has been the history of the movement for political equality for women. Her major books on this subject include: Feminism and Suffrage : The Emergence of an Independent Women’s Movement in America 1848–1869 (Cornell University Press, 1978); Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony: A Reader, second edition (Northeastern University Press, 1990); and Harriot Stanton Blatch and theWinning of Woman Suffrage (Yale University Press, 1997). She is also the editor, with Vicki L. Ruiz, of Unequal Sisters: A Multicultural Reader in U.S. Women’s History (Routledge, 1991, 1994).
