275 ABOUT THE AUTHOR David Dante Troutt is a writer and Professor of Law and Justice John J. Francis Scholar at Rutgers Law School–Newark, where he directs the Center on Law in Metropolitan Equity. In addition to his regular journal scholarship and popular commentary, he is the author of The Monkey Suit: Short Fiction on African Americans and Justice (New Press 1998); a novel, The Importance of Being Dangerous (HarperCollins 2007); and the editor of After the Storm: Black Intellectuals Explore the Meaning of Hurricane Katrina (New Press 2006).
