ACKNOWLEDGMENTS My enduring thanks go to my best known ancestors, Mack and Jane Allen, my parents, two humans that I love so deeply and miss so thoroughly. They remain with my thoughts, actions, and aspirations. They will be with me as long as the river flows and the sun rises. They are very much alive with me, and I hope that they have a certain fulfillment in the knowledge that I carry them with me wherever I go.
