ABOUT THE AUTHOR MATTHEW N. EISLER obtained his doctorate in history at the University of Alberta in April 2008. He was the 2008–200 Harris Steel Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of History at the University of Western Ontario before taking a postdoctoral post at the Center for Nanotechnology in Society at the University of California at Santa Barbara in fall 200. He is currently a Research Fellow at the Chemical Heritage Foundation. Dr. Eisler’s interests lie at the intersection of the history of science, technology, and environment, especially after 145. He focuses on the political economy, culture, and discourse of science-based innovation and research and development policies and their relationship with and impact on industrialism, consumerism, and the environment, particularly in the energy and transportation sectors. ...
