ABOUT THE AUTHOR KHYATI Y. JOSHI is an assistant professor of education at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. Before joining the faculty of FDU, she taught Asian American studies and comparative ethnic studies at Princeton University and at Columbia University’s Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race. Dr. Joshi works with teachers and school administrators on multicultural curriculum development and meeting the needs of immigrant and secondgeneration students. She created one of the first one-on-one mentoring programs in the United States to pair South Asian American high school students with South Asian American graduate students and young professionals, and has worked with a variety of other programs serving students of diverse backgrounds . Dr. Joshi earned her doctoral degree in social justice education from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, a Masters in theological studies from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and a B.A. in religion from Emory University. She also pursued post-graduate studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was a selected participant in the 2003–2005 Young Scholars in American Religion program at the Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. ...
