Nancy Marsh, retired Hillsborough County Schools supervisor of secondary science, still has boxes stuffed full of documents from back in the early 1980s when her school board required the teaching of scientific creationism alongside evolution. Without her personal recollections and her gracious willingness to share that magnificent treasure trove of files, parts of this book would have been incomplete. The National Center for Science Education has an extensive library archive that I took advantage of and, even more importantly, a very knowledgeable staff. Deputy director Glenn Branch read an early version of the manuscript and gave me a three-page list of suggested corrections and clarifications. It took me several days to check everything off that list, but it was time well spent.
