She was enrolled in Carlisle on April 30, 1887, as “Susie Nachekea, father dead, mother living, age 12, height 4'6", weight 82.” Susie died of tuberculosis on May 14, 1889 and is buried at Carlisle.1 Nahaklo (Virginia) c. 1871–1889 ws fig. 17 An orphan enrolled in Carlisle on April 30, 1887, as “Virginia Nahaklo, age 16, height 5', weight 130.” She was assigned to work for Mr. L. Martindell of Colora, Maryland, May 1–September 29, 1889. She was discharged on October 16, 1889, due to illness and sent to Alabama, where she died on December 24, 1889.2 Nahbay c. 1841–? nd Nahba; Nahi; Napah; Napi. Laziyah’s brother, he was listed in Kaahteney’s (Jacob) band as “Napah , age 45, height 5'4", married.” Nahbay and his two-year-old daughter surrendered with Naiche in September 1886. Nahbay likely died in Alabama.3 Nahdaiyah c. 1864–? nd Natahyah. She was one of Fatty’s (David) wives; their children were Agnes and Mary (twins), David Jr., Eustace, Gabriel, Matthew, Nettie, and Robin- Nahdeyole | 185 son Fatty. Nahdaiyah and Fatty were remembered as the only prisoners having twins. Nahdaiyah settled at Mescalero.4 See also Fatty (David). Nahdclohnn c. 1870–1894 bd Nohchlon. She was the wife of Geronimo (Chappo). After their September 1886 surrender, their daughter was born during the sixty-five-mile march to Fort Bowie, Arizona, and the event was noted in the report of the officer in charge: “Yesterday while on the march a young Indian girl gave birth to a child. The command halted perhaps an hour for this purpose and then took up the march, the girl carrying her young baby. She looked pretty pale, but otherwise seemed to pay little attention to the incident.” She was listed as “Nohchlon (Chappo’s wife)” on the Mount Vernon census. She died in Alabama before the prisoners were transferred to Fort Sill in 1894.5 See also Geronimo (Chappo). Nahdeyole c. 1858–1896 ch Nahdeyole was a daughter of Eskinya, the prominent medicine man closely associated with Cochise. She married Naiche; their children were Paul, Lena, and Peter. She appears as “Nateeolay” on the Mount Vernon census. After she and Naiche divorced around 1892–93 she married Spitty (Erick). Nahdeyole died in 1896 [sw5202]. In early 1897 George Wratten sent news of her death to Paul, who was a student at Hampton: “Paul’s mother (Nah-de-yole or Mrs. Spitty) died [of pneumonia] here on the night of the 24th of Dec. She received the best care but was taken to that ‘Home’ where sorrow and care are never known. She was a daughter of Juana and Taklishim and was Geronimo’s full sister. Nahdoste married Nana; their son died at San Carlos in April 1878. One of the last five full-blood Bedonkohe Apaches, Nahdoste died on September 18, 1907 [se5252].7 See also Nana. Nahdozinne c. 1855–? ch Nahdozin; Nahthzie; Nahdose; Nazee. Eelodllahm’s husband, in 1884 he was listed in Naiche’s band as “Nazee , height 5'4", single, 33 years old.” He was an enlisted scout at Fort Apache prior to 1886. He participated in the May 1885 breakout and surrendered in March 1886 with Chihuahua’s group. He appears as “Nachosean” on the Mount Vernon census. He married Eelodllahm and had a son, Price. He lived in Naiche’s village at Fort Sill, and as a widower he settled at Mescalero.8 See also Eelodllahm.
