Monday, May 9 Hebrew Societies Indorse Weizmann Funds Urged to Provide a Jewish Homeland At a conference in the West End Y.M.H.A. Hall, by 187 delegates, representing 28 cities, resolutions were adopted indorsing Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the World’s Zionist Organization and the Keren Hayesod. Benjamin Rabalsky, president of the New England Zionist Regional Union, presided and appointed a resolutions committee consisting of Harry Mannitz of Revere, chairman; Abraham Shocket of Dorchester, Jacob Promboim of Cambridge, Samuel Rugin of Malden and I. Segal of Brockton. The chairman introduced Emanuel Newman, acting director of the Keren Hayesod Bureau of America, who said that it is the duty of every Zionist to stand firmly behind Dr. Weizmann. Dr. Schmaru Levin of the World Zionist Commission spoke on the Jewish situation in Palestine. He recounted the heroism of the Jewish colonists who died defending their homes against the attacks of Arab marauders. He said the solution of the Jewish problem in Palestine was in a large emigration of Jews.“Let us raise the necessary money,”said Dr. Levin,“and we can be certain of a Jewish homeland within the next few years.” Preparations are being made for the Weizmann-Einstein reception May 17 and 18.
