INTRODUCTION This workbook accompanies Norsk, nordmenn og Norge. It gives students written and oral practice with the material presented in the textbook. The first section (SKRIFTlIGE 0VElSER) is composed of written exercises for chapters 1-20. There are also twelve review chapters which pull together and explain in English various aspects of Norwegian grammar. The workbook's second section (MUNTlIGE 0VElSER) is meant to be used with the related audio tapes. For each chapter, several excerpts from the textbook are recorded. Under the rubric lEST INN pA BANDET you will find references to the passage's page (side) and line (~inje) in the textbook. These passages are also marked in the textbook. The readings for six chapters are supplemented by children's rhymes and ditties. Exercises (0VElSER) follow the recorded excerpts for most chapters. For each exercise, the first two cue--response pairs are printed as a sample in the workbook. The speakers on the tape first go through these two cue--response examples. Then they start over. You should respond during the pause after each cue, then listen as the speaker gives the proper response. Each chapter ends with a dictation (DIKTAT) or listening comprehension exercise (lYTTE0VElSE). The final part of the oral exercises deals with pronunciation (UTTAlE).
