APPENDIX The appendix presents TAAS data for the three schools in summary form. Readers who would like additional information on the schools are advised to consult the voluminous data compiled by the Texas Education Agency on the website of its Academic Excellence Indicator System at www.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/aeis/index.html. This site provides not only TAAS outcomes for every school in Texas but also information on school attendance rates, graduation rates (for high schools), and percentages of students in each school who are in special education or ESL programs.The one major limitation of the listings on the site is that only the percentages of students passing the different sections of the TAAS are listed—not the number of test takers. Those numbers can only be acquired by contacting the school, the school district, or administrators at either the Communication Division or the Student Assessment Division of the Texas Education Agency. As the analysis in the text indicates, the low numbers of students taking different sections of the TAAS in the two elementary schools must be kept in mind when attempting to gauge improvements in student learning.
