Erwin A. Alampay

is an associate professor at the National College of Public Administration and Governance, University of the Philippines.

Masashi Crete-Nishihata

is the research manager of the Citizen Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto, and a member of the OpenNet Initiative and Information Warfare Monitor.

Ronald Deibert

is the director of the Canada Centre for Global Security Studies and the Citizen Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto. He is a founder and principal investigator of the OpenNet Initiative and Information Warfare Monitor projects, and a coeditor of the ONI’s two previous volumes: Access Denied and Access Controlled.

Regina M. Hechanova

is an associate professor and the executive director of the Ateneo Center for Organization Research and Development, Department of Psychology, Ateneo de Manila University.

Heike Jensen

is a postdoctoral researcher affiliated with the Department of Gender Studies of Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. Her research has concentrated on gender and Internet governance, and she has been engaged in feminist advocacy in the civil society constituencies of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), and the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

Jac sm Kee

is the women’s rights advocacy coordinator of the Association of Progressive Communications. She leads a five-country research project on sexuality and the Internet (EROTICS) and the Take Back the Tech! global campaign.

Rebecca MacKinnon

is a Bernard L. Schwartz Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation. She is cofounder of Global Voices Online, an international citizen media network, and a founding member of the Global Network Initiative, a multistakeholder initiative for the protection of free expression and privacy in the ICT sector.

Milton L. Mueller

is a professor at Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies. He is a founder of the Internet Governance Project and has been active in the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) civil society, and the Internet Governance Forum. He is the author of Networks and States: The Global Politics of Internet Governance.

Joselito C. Olpoc

is an instructor at the John Gokongwei School of Management, Ateneo de Manila University.

John Palfrey

is the Henry N. Ess III Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and a faculty codirector of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. He is a founder and principal investigator of the OpenNet Initiative and a coeditor of the ONI’s two previous volumes: Access Denied and Access Controlled.

Pirongrong Ramasoota

is the deputy dean of graduate studies at the Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. She is cofounder and director of the Thai Media Policy Center (Thai-MPC), a research/advocacy unit that investigates and advocates on issues related to media policy and regulation in Thailand and overseas.

Sonia Randhawa

produces a radio show, Accent of Women, broadcast through the Community Radio Network in Australia. She is an editor of GenderIT.org and director for the Centre for Independent Journalism, Malaysia.

Hal Roberts

is a fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, where he researches a variety of topics around new media and Internet control.

Rafal Rohozinski

is the CEO of the SecDev Group and Psiphon Inc., and a senior scholar at the Canada Centre for Global Security Studies, Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto. He is a founder and principal investigator of the OpenNet Initiative and Information Warfare Monitor projects, and a coeditor of the ONI’s two previous volumes: Access Denied and Access Controlled.

Vee Vian Thien

is a researcher at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. Her LLM long paper for Harvard Law School in 2010 focused on the Malaysian blogosphere, and she researches Internet regulation in the Southeast Asian region.

Gayathry Venkiteswaran

is executive director of the Southeast Asian Press Alliance, a network representing media freedom groups from four countries in the region. Previously she was director of the Centre for Independent Journalism, Malaysia. She has worked as a journalist and has also taught journalism and media history in private colleges.

Nart Villeneuve

is a researcher who focuses on malware, botnets, and the cybercriminal underground. His technical research led to the discovery of two cyber-espionage networks, GhostNet—which compromised diplomatic missions around the world—and ShadowNet—which extracted secret information from the Indian government.

Jonathan Zittrain

is a professor of Law at Harvard Law School, where he cofounded its Berkman Center for Internet and Society, and a professor of Computer Science at Harvard’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He is a founder and principal investigator of the OpenNet Initiative and a coeditor of the ONI’s two previous volumes: Access Denied and Access Controlled.

Ethan Zuckerman

is a senior researcher at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University where his research focuses on the digital public sphere. He is cofounder of international citizen media aggregator Global Voices.
