PEtER d. littlE is Professor and chair of anthropology and director of the Program in development studies, Emory University. He received his Phd from indiana University in 1983 and has held visiting appointments at Kyoto University, oxford University, and the University of nairobi. during the past twenty-nine years, dr. little has conducted research and directed interdisciplinary programs on development and globalization, poverty, political economy of pastoralism, and food insecurity in several african countries, but with primary emphasis on Kenya, somalia, and Ethiopia. among his many research awards have been a Guggenheim fellowship, the Choice academic Book award, the talbot Book Prize from the Royal anthropological institute, and the albert and Elizabeth Kirwan memorial Research Prize.
