Contributors Ileana Azor, PhD, is a professor of theatre at Universidad de las Américas, Puebla (Mexico). Her books include Origen y presencia del teatro en Nuestra América, Temas de Teatro latinoamericano, El neogrotesco argentino, and Teatralidades y carnival: Danzantes y color en Puebla de los Ángeles. Dalia Basiouny, PhD, is an assistant professor of theatre at the American University in Cairo (Egypt). She is a theatre director with fifteen plays to her credit, performed in Egypt and overseas. In addition to playwriting, she also writes reviews, translates, and performs. Kate Bredeson, DFA, is an assistant professor of theatre at Reed College (United States), a director, and a dramaturge. She has published on French theatre in journals including Theater, Modern and Contemporary France, Theatre Symposium, and the book May 68: Rethinking France’s Last Revolution. Miřenka Čechová, PhD (Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Czech Republic), is an active performer, director, and choreographer in both Europe and the United States. She is the founder of Spitfire Company and Tantehorse, which both focus on experimental physical theatre. Marié-Heleen Coetzee, DTech, is head of drama at the University of Pretoria in Gauteng (South Africa) and has written on theatre and performance practice in South Africa. May Summer Farnsworth, PhD, is an associate professor of Spanish and Hispanic studies at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York (United States). She has published essays on the early stages of Latin American feminist theatre in Latin American Theatre Review, e-misférica, MIFLC Review, and the South Atlantic Review. Anne Fliotsos, PhD, is a professor of theatre at Purdue University (United States). Books include American Women Stage Directors of the Twentieth Century, Teaching Theatre Today: Pedagogical Views of Theatre in Higher Education, and Interpreting the Play Script: Contemplation and Analysis. Laura Ginters, PhD, is a senior lecturer in performance studies at the University of Sydney (Australia). She has written on Australian playwrights and directors, historical and contemporary rehearsal, and production histories. Her translations of German plays have been published, adapted, and produced. Iris Hsin-chun Tuan, PhD, is a professor of humanities and social sciences at National ChiaoTung University (Taiwan). Books include Intercultural Theatre, Alternative Theatre in Taiwan, Drama and Hakka, and Western Canon in Taiwan Theatre. Maria Ignatieva, PhD, is an associate professor of theatre, Ohio State University at Lima (United States). She has published numerous journal articles on Russian contemporary theatre and theatre history, and she wrote Stanislavsky and Female Actors: Women in Stanislavsky’s Life and Art. Adam J. Ledger, PhD, is a Lecturer in Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Birmingham (England) and a director. He publishes on performance practice, including the book Odin Teatret: Theatre in a New Century. Roberta Levitow is the Senior Program Associate International with the Sundance Institute Theatre Program (United States). Co-founder/director of Theatre Without Borders, she is a theatre director, dramaturge, and teacher, and a former Fulbright Specialist grantee and Fulbright Ambassador emerita. Publications include American Theatre Magazine, among others. Jiangyue Li, BA and MA in theatre and film studies (China), is a PhD student in theatre history at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (United States). Her research interests include cross-cultural theatre, dramaturgy, directing, and translational studies of theatre. Lliane Loots, MA, is a lecturer in the drama and performance studies program at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Howard College Campus) in Durban (South Africa) and has written extensively around gender revisions of African contemporary performance histories. Diana Manole, PhD (University of Toronto), is a Romanian-born assistant professor at Trent University (Canada), a stage and TV director, and an award-winning writer. She has published eight collections of poems and plays and several academic articles and book chapters. Karin Maresh, PhD, is an associate professor of theatre at Washington & Jefferson College (United States). She has written for the journals Theatre Journal and Theatre Survey and has an article in the forthcoming book Performing Motherhood. Gordon McCall, MFA, is the head of the Purdue University directing program (United States). Former artistic director of Montreal’s Centaur Theatre, he has directed numerous productions at major theatres in Canada, the United States, Ireland, and Australia. He is also a playwright, screenwriter, and journalist. Erin B.
