Michael D. Pierson is assistant professor of history at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He is currently completing his forthcoming book, Free Hearts and Free Homes: Gender and American Antislavery Politics.
Col. Kevin J. Weddle is professor of military strategy, planning, and operations at the United States Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. A Princeton University doctoral candidate, he is writing his dissertation on the antebellum and Civil War career of Rear Adm. Samuel Francis Du Pont.
Wendy Hamand Venet is associate professor of history at Georgia State University in Atlanta. She is the author of Neither Ballot nor Bullets: Women Abolitionists and the Civil War and co-editor of Midwestern Women: Work, Community, and Leadership at the Crossroads. She is currently writing the first full-length biography of Mary Livermore.
