Ford Risley is assistant professor of communications at Penn State. He is the author of several articles on the Southern press during the Civil War era.
Michael Vorenberg is assistant professor of history at Brown University. He is the author of Final Freedom: The Civil War, the Abolition of Slavery, and the Thirteenth Amendment (2001).
