The Sediments of Duration's Heave: Curating the 2018 CCA Biennial

Curator's introduction to the Cornell Council for the Arts 2018 Biennial, "Duration: Passage, Persistence, Survival." The challenge of mounting a university-based arts biennial under the political conditions in the United States in 2018 required an approach to staging an artistic environment that might capitalize on an academic community's celebration of the arts while provoking interdisciplinary conversation about the persistence of passage, from environments to communities, while emphasizing the challenge of survival in hostile socio-ecological climates.
