Jack Hammersmith retired from the Department of History, West Virginia University, in 2016, having taught and published in US and East Asian histories during his career. He is now emeritus professor of history.

Naomi Rendina is a PhD candidate in the History Department at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Her dissertation examines how natural childbirth, including the educational literature and the actual experience, commodified in the United States between 1930 and 1979. Her research interests include the modern United States, medical anthropology, medical history, and social activism.

Elaine Verdill is a native of Ohio and among the descendants of Artemus Swetland. Elaine is a long-time student of history who currently resides in Colorado.
