Abstract

In this essay we place the “White Horse Dialogue” in the context of pre-Qin philosophy and explain how a pro-realist ontology is possible within a generally nominalist background. We argue that Gognsun Long did admit the independent existence of qualities, though considering them as material parts of concrete objects/stuff.
